Overview

Paediatrics and Neonatology

The Level-3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was established at our facility in 2019 with an initial capacity of 6 beds and two ventilators. This pioneering initiative marked the first of its kind in the private sector, with the unit being led by a dedicated full-time neonatologist. Due to our outstanding patient outcomes and growing demand for specialized neonatal care, we expanded our capacity in 2021 to accommodate 12 beds, including 5 ventilated beds.

Looking ahead, we are set to further increase our bed capacity to 30 beds. This expansion reflects our commitment to meeting the increasing healthcare needs of newborns requiring intensive care. Our Level-3 NICU is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and staffed by a highly skilled medical team, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care for critically ill newborns and their families.

One of the key aspects of our approach is developmental supportive care, which focuses on creating an environment that supports the overall growth and development of infants.
  • Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)
We emphasize the importance of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), a practice that involves skin-to-skin contact between the mother and the newborn.
  • Family-centered care is another cornerstone of our NICU, helping to create a strong family bond and aiding in the baby's recovery and development.
Milestones
  • At our NICU, we have achieved significant milestones in providing exceptional care, having saved over 900 babies to date. Many of these infants were extremely ill and born very prematurely.
  • Our proudest achievement includes the successful care of the smallest newborn, who weighed only 600 grams at birth and was born at just 25 weeks gestational age.
  • These outcomes highlight our commitment to delivering high-quality, specialized care to our neonatal patients, ensuring their survival and fostering healthy beginnings despite challenging circumstances.
